The #MiCA<\/strong><\/a> transitional period has come to an end. A new regulatory era for crypto-assets in the European Union has officially begun.

As of\u00a01 July 2026, the transitional period under the\u00a0Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (#MiCA<\/strong><\/a>)\u00a0has expired. Subject to the transitional arrangements applicable in each Member State, firms providing regulated crypto-asset services in the European Union are now expected to operate within the MiCA framework or another lawful transitional regime where available.

The new framework introduces a harmonised regulatory regime for crypto-asset service providers (#CASPs<\/strong><\/a>), token issuers and other market participants, with the objective of enhancing market integrity, consumer protection and legal certainty across the EU.

MiCA is particularly relevant for:
\u2022 Crypto-Asset Service Providers (CASPs)
\u2022 Centralised and decentralised crypto businesses
\u2022 Crypto exchanges and OTC trading desks
\u2022 Brokers and custodians
\u2022 Issuers of asset-referenced tokens and e-money tokens
\u2022 Stablecoin issuers
\u2022 Web3 companies, blockchain projects and fintech businesses seeking to operate within the European market
